Without a serious and effective set of community developemnt programs, peace turns into a precarious calm and human rights restraints into unbearable yokes. The have-nots become extremely suspicious of the haves and the outcome of it all is upheaval and social unrest.
Seemingly addressing the issue, former U.S. President Dwight D. Eisenhower said, ''This world of ours... must avoid becoming a community of dreadful fear and hate, and be, instead, a proud confederation of mutual trust and respect.'' When our eyes got opened onto this reality, we vowed to ourselves that we would contribute as much as possible to the development of the least fortunate regions of the planets.
